  25. Stellar Empires requires Microsoft Windows 3.1 and a mouse.

  28. INTRODUCTION
  29.  
  30. Stellar Empires for Windows is a fast paced strategic game of galactic 
  31. conquest.  A player begins an empire with a single star.  Stars are added 
  32. to an empire through colonization of uncolonized stars and annexation of 
  33. stars held by other empires.  The game is complete when there is only one 
  34. empire left.  The game is designed such that the more you play, the more 
  35. features you learn, and the more challenging the game becomes.

  38.     o    Randomly generated star map allows virtually an endless supply 
  39.         of different scenarios.
  40.     o    Number of stars in a game may vary from 50 to 1500 for short, 
  41.         medium or long games.
  42.     o    Number of players may vary from 2 to 12 with any combination of 
  43.         computer or human players.
  44.     o    Totally mouse controllable, play a game and never touch the keyboard.
  45.     o    Options to vary the difficulty and complexity of the game.
  46.     o    Replay a game, as the same player or as another player.

  48. Stellar Empires is distributed as SHAREWARE. Please read the following

  55. Stellar Empires is marketed as shareware, it is not free. Shareware 
  56. distribution gives users a chance to try software before buying it. 
  57. If you try a shareware program and continue using it, you are expected 
  58. to register. If you find this program enjoyable please register.

  60. Stellar Empires Button and then click the Registration Button.

  83. authorizes distribution only in accordance with the following restrictions.

  85. The Stellar Empires package is defined as containing all the material listed 
  86. in the PACKING.LST text file.  If any files listed in the PACKING.LST text 
  87. file, or the PACKING.LST file itself, are missing, then the package is not 
  88. complete and distribution is forbidden.  Please contact Tahuya Bay Software 
  89. to obtain a complete package suitable for distribution.

  91.     o    Do not distribute outside of the USA and Canada any part of the 
  92.         Stellar Empires package, without written permission from Tahuya

  110.     o    The Stellar Empires package including all related program files 
  111.         and documentation files CANNOT be modified in any way (other than

  116.         distribute the Stellar Empires package as part of any of the

  121.         this text file describes the Distributor.  Also a small one-line

  125.         unmodified and complete.

  127.     o    Disk Vendors, Shareware Distributors and BBS(s) may charge a 
  128.         nominal fee not to exceed $9 US for distribution of the program. 
  129.         The recipient of Stellar Empires must be informed, in advance,

  131.         the recipient from paying the Registration Fee for Stellar Empires.

  139.         termination of this license, you are entitled to distribute

  150. INSTALLATION GUIDE
  151.  
  152. Stellar Empires files can be installed in any directory (recommended \TBAY\SE).
  153.  
  154. If you received Stellar Empires as an archived (.ZIP) file, simply unarchive 
  155. all files to the desired directory. If Stellar Empires is not archived simply 
  156. copy all files to the desired directory (example C:\GAMES\TBAY) using the 
  157. DOS "COPY" command or Windows File Manager.
  158.  
  159. While there are numerous files in the distribution form, only three files 
  160. are needed: SE.EXE (executable file), SE.HLP (help file) and SE.CFG 
  161. (configuration file).  A fourth file TUTORIAL.SE is optional and is 
  162. used for the tutorial.

  164. Once all the files are in the appropriate directory, Stellar Empires 
  165. can be installed in a Windows Program Manager application group (Games 
  166. group is recommended).  Start Windows and make use of the click-and-drag 
  167. method available to the Windows File Manager, or select an application 
  168. group and create a new Program Item by:
  169.  
  170.     o    Clicking "File" from the Program Manager's menu.
  171.     o    Clicking "New.." from the "File" menu.
  172.     o    Selecting "Program Item" and clicking "OK" in the New Program Object 
  173.         Dialog Box.
  174.     o    Fill in the Program Items Properties Dialog Box (substitute correct 
  175.         directory path for C:\GAMES\TBAY):
  176.         o    Description:            Stellar Empires
  177.         o    Command Line:            C:\GAMES\TBAY\SE.EXE
  178.         o    Working Directory:        C:\GAMES\TBAY
  179.     o    Click "OK" in the Program Items Properties Dialog Box to complete 
  180.         installation.

  182. Once installed, Stellar Empires can be started like any other Windows 
  183. application.

  189. and Updates, the latest information, or just to drop us a note.  The 
  190. following means are provided for product support.

  192.     o    Call TSCNET Bulletin Board System (BBS) via modem at (206) 692-2388,  
  193.         2400-14400 bps, or (206) 613-0536, 1200-14400 bps.  TSCNET is one of 
  194.         the most popular Public Bulletin Boards in the Pacific Northwest.  
  195.         Log on to the BBS and enter:    J TAHUYA BAY<cr> to join the 
  196.         Tahuya Bay Conference.  This conference contains our latest 
  197.         releases and updates.  This is also a forum for your questions 
  198.         and comments about Stellar Empires and Tahuya Bay Software products.  
  199.         We usually check the conference every morning and try to respond 
  200.         to any questions within 48 hours.  If you have problems with the 
  201.         BBS contact the system operator.
